Hello,
I have just started up a portraiture business and am wondering if anybody knows a good printer / place to make up some prints from my drawings? as I have had a few requests of late for prints, plus I would like some for my own records.
As a graphic designer I should know this stuff! But is it just a case of scanning in the drawing etc and going about the usual printing process? or is there a finer technique involved.
All help is very much appreciated.
I'm in victoria if that helps.
Kat. |

Hi Kat - how big are the drawings? If they're under A4, I would definately start with a flatbed scanner. If bigger, you need to photograph them, or get them photographed.
Greg at The Giclee Studio in Rosebud http://www.walkerimaging.com.au may be a useful place to start.

| Office works can do A3 and I think it fairly easy to find someone with an A2 |

I have been asked a few times for prints, and have been searching everywhere for someone who would be able to scan the painting and print it out, without removing the canvas from the frame or a scanner large enough for a 30 X 24 canvas.
I had seen quite a few prints where it is difficult to see the difference between the original and the print. After searching for many hours I found a site that talk about "Giclée Prints" but I am unable to find anyone in the Hunter that does those prints.
I called the manufacturer to see how much it would cost to start up - it was around 15,000 plus
Still searching... |
