That was taken when he had offended Ching Di, the God of the East, who condemned him to walk the Earth as half-man, half-demon seeking to rule the world from beyond the grave.*

It's a small drawing I did when I in a substance induced creative mood.
When I was younger I got right into the work of the French underground comic artist Moebius. Being an underground artist must have been hard ..just imagine trying to draw with all that dirt in your eyes... I love his stuff.
I'ts a result of reading and looking at his work.
I almost feel as if I know him.

Although, I think Grant knows him better than me. Very Happy

Not sure about that, he never calls... I used to see his stuff in the early Metal Hurlant / Heavy Metal magazines. Thought the art was great but I didn't understand most of it (particularly The Airtight Garage of Jerry Cornelius). Then again, I didn't understand most of the stuff. (Phillipe Druillet's Yragael:Urm is still the graphic equivalent of Finnegan's Wake...)

Trivia Warning: Mobius did the space suit designs for Alien.

I wouldn't have spotted the connection with your art if you hadn't pointed it out - there are influences in the cross hatching and colouring. I got into underground comics through the American ones like Zap! and The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers by Gilbert Shelton. The artist that blew me away was Vaughn Bode - I spent the next ten years trying to copy him and drawing daggy looking lizards...

Cheers

You seem to know more about the artist’s backgrounds, what movies they were involved in etc.
The Airtight Garage or Hermetic Garage of Lewis Carnelian would have been hard to understand if the instalments were a month apart.
I’ve got a signed book that has the complete story with an explanation of what the hell it’s all about.

There was no plan.
He drew the first few pages and then sent them off.
He didn’t want to see them again until the story was finished. He was making the story up as he went along and without seeing the previous pages he would start on the next ones which would be in a slightly different style...sometimes tight and sometimes loose and more cartoonish, depending on his mood.
The whole thing was sort of an experiment. I think it was brilliant.
