Hi there all.
This is a 'toe in the water' post I suppose.
An 'expressions of interest' if you like.

To back track for a second, I run my own graphic design business and I'm also an artist. Currently I run the biz from my home studio and am also increasingly taking over the house with my painting.
What I would love to do is combine the two somehow and get out of my families hair in a large space somewhere local. Creating what I think could become an fantastic artists collective.
Long term vision would be to not only collaborate on business projects but to have group exhibitions from this space also.

I live in the Hornsby area, north of Sydney, but this space could be anywhere from Berowra to Turramurra I suppose. I know there are spaces available, but no point looking until I have an interested group.

So I am looking for like minded people, who are preferably in the arts sector, need more space and who can afford to pay rent.
Struggling artists with no money need not respond at this stage.

May be a pipe dream, but here goes nothin.

Cheers

Hi there!

Just stumbled across your post. I'm an artist living in Hornsby and am finding myself being squeezed out of my studio/corner of the garage. Interested in hearing where you're at with your idea.

I paint in enamels so am looking for a garage like environment where my paint fumes aren't an issue to others (I use a mask). Am willing to pay for space to work and store paints/works but not much as I don't require much space and am pretty good at working in a confined area!

I also live in the Hornsby Area. Keep in touch let me know how things go.

I built an art studio in my back yard. After having temporary spaces all the time I just jumped in an did it. It was hard work but great to have my own space.

Brad.

Eagle,

i've had a similar idea but more focused on the organisation of the group and sorting out how to get funding from local, state and federal arts grants, i have a post in AF right now.

right now i'm after 8-10 people to form a co-opeartive for the pupose of getting funds for exhibiton space, materials etc.

But I am also interested in your proposition of showing some of my stuff in a shared venue. What type of space would you be considering? what time frame and what fees?

catch ya
