Hi everyone, this is a commission which I finished this afternoon. It's a half sheet of colourfix using a variety of art spectrums along with my rustytone pastels.

I had so much fun doing the wet areas like the bottom of the ear and the trunk. Getting the flow and movement in the water was also thoroughly enjoyable.

The client saw the piece tonight and was elated with the results.

Yeah it's no wonder you like to paint animals, you do it so well.

Thanks! This was a great experiment because I don't generally get the opportunity to put my favourite elements together in one piece. It was especially good because I got to test out my new rustytone pastel design (it's shaped like a tiny carrot) for the detail work. I would have had all sorts of issues doing the hair in this with a regular stick.

Wonderful work Leigh.
You've also captured that slightly comic personality that elephants often have.

Thanks Clive! I was a lot of fun to do. For me these scenes show that despite the uproar that took place a few years ago when the elephants were brought to Melbourne Zoo they did like their new home. The reference for this was taken early one morning when no one was at the park, roughly 2 weeks after they arrived.
