Hi Everyone,
If you are wanting to share an image or article. Please do NOT just post an immediate link out of the forum.
Please post the image url so the image shows in the forum to members reading the post. In regards to articles please post a 'quote' representing at least a portion of the article before linking to it.
The forum is a platform for interacting with others, it’s not a links directory. Please post immediate content to share, do not just post outgoing links.
Many thanks...
Kind Regards,
Brad |

| Brad, while I do appreciate quotes from articles, I would think that linking directly to images would be considered stealing bandwidth. Isn't it more courteous to link to the person's site? |

Hi Guys,
I'm referring mainly to instances where a member makes a new topic post with a short title and nothing in the body of the post except a direct link straight out of the forum. This is frowned upon.
In regards to the rule, it's general and there are plenty of exceptions, its also not overly policed... however if the rule can be followed it needs to be to keep the forum consistent ...and in some cases tp help prevent exploitation of the Forum.
Art forum is a platform to share/discuss things. To facilitate that if a new topic is being posted to share/discuss it should at least in part, and at least initially be presented with-in the forum first.
Brad. |

I guess it's a tough balancing act, I try not to do it too often but in a post like my artist interviews I guess I get too excited and want to share straight away. I also put in lots of other posts too and hope I don't "stretch the friendship!" will aim to personally provide more depth before dragging people off to look elsewhere.
I am indeed VERY grateful by the way for the interest of members in my Artist Interviews as well as the admin of this site... If I have pushed things too far then let me know I feel sure we can work something out. |

I tend to treat posts like that as spam, and either delete the post outright or delete the link and put in a warning.
Most of the links posted by members are genuine, and many of them are because they struggle to post an image in the message, so an external link is the next best thing.
Cheers

| Posting pictures is a really big turn-off. Although I am greatful for moderators to help me posting pictures, the fact that they end up in their portfolios on photobucket is not my ideal solution. I am not sure what is wrong with people posting links to their own websites. Isn't promoting our art one of the aims here? |

Hey Steve, we are behind computers, not mobile phones.
Try writing your posts properly and you might get more responses.
Here's a link to help you with image posting.

The way I figure it...if people cant be bothered to write about their artwork, materials used, process etc. Thank Im not going to waste my time commenting.
When I see a short sentence and a link, I dont even bother looking at it.
I think what Brad is asking is fair and reasonable. We want to see the work, not be directed to other links. Especially MySpace pages. I HATE those ones. I dont even go there. |
