This is a bay on our South Coast, named for the headland which was a favoured navigation aid back in the days of sail. It rises 150m straight off the beach, and is visible for long distances.

On canvas, 80cm x 150cm or 32" x 60"

Really good Marty.
What colour did you use for the sky? I usually use a mix of winsor blue and ultramarine but yours look like one particular colour...

Thanks, Daniel

I used a mix of Pthalo Blue, French Ultramarine Blue and Titanium White. I find that mix gives me a pretty good sky blue.

Almost fooled me - I thought at first it was a photo. Very dynamic and quite attractive. The composition and the colours work quite well.

Thanks very much, Stefan. It's a funny thing about natural colour. To mix these (except for the sky) I first mix a neutral grey of the right value, and then add tube colour. It's remarkable how little tube colour is required to get the right colour.

Like Stephan I had to look twice to realise it was a painting. It is a wonderful work. I'd love to do a workshop with you one day!

yeah i thought it was a photo because my eyes looked at the mountain and that definately looked like a photo but then the wave looked painted...then i wasn't sure if it had been digitally matched the fore ground and background together.

Hi Marty, what a beautiful painting & especially love the colours you've used. Is this wrapped canvas or framed?
Just as a 'personal taste' comment & certainly not trying to offend....
I'd love to crop about 30cm of the bottom so it's still abeach scene but the mountains become more of the focus.

Hi, Gurufly, thank you!
Hi, Jodi, thanks. It's on gallery wrap canvas. And I leave the sides white.
