I was drawn to paint this because of the simplicity of the image. |

Daniel has an amazing knack with horizons - his are more horizontal than anybody else I know. I keep forgetting that and put mine at all kinds of odd angles. 
I was admiring the caustics, which really make the water work and which he always nails.

one thing , don't they have waves in W A , your seas are always so peaceful |

Simple but very effective, Daniel.
Yes we have waves in WA, some of the best surf in the world on the South Coast, the South West corner and the West Coast up to Exmouth, but up in the Kimberly, and on the Pilbara coast there is no surf. There are waves at Cable Beach in Broome, but most of that coastline has no swell.

Yes I've seen photos of surf at Cable Beach but the waves are seasonal, wipped up by monsoonal storms.
In the dry season the surf at Cable Beach is usually around one foot if your lucky and the waves just close out anyway.
The reference photo for this painting was taken near the Port area of Broome.It's a very peacefull place....just look at this next reference photo..
