Dear site administration,
I'm wondering if this graphic user interface is a little out of date? Being a creative forum would it be time for a little make over?
Also, what about a few features for artists - like being able to upload a profile photo and putting up a gallery of our work and to add some details about ourselves? That way it becomes a broader sharing community.
Just a suggestion!
If web server expense is an issue, maybe look at www.123ehost.com who I found to be incredibly inexpensive compared to any web servers in Australia.
Best wishes,
Georgiana |

Hi,
Just wanted to say thanks for your comments.
All good idea's and I'm not against any of them,
The layout was left as standard to facilitate ease of use, or at least as much as the system allows.
I'd like to hear what others think about profile pages? from past conversations I've had, it seemed feelings about that sort of thing were mixed? What do forum members want?
The forum is a heavy traffic, database driven site which tends to be expensive to host on 3rd party servers. We actually already run on our own independently owned and run server, that's the cheapest and best way. _________________ ART-SEARCH - ART-SEARCH FACEBOOK |Australian Art Education |

Hi Brad,
Thanks for responding. Updating the design shouldn't effect the usability of the site (I have experience designing web sites). In fact with current technology it's relatively easy to design a gorgeous looking site without effecting download capability.
It's great if you're running your own server but given that you're running your own server and that Australia has a very small population and even smaller are interested in art, then surely there would be enough space to allow for some more facilities?
Best wishes,
Georgiana |

For me personally, with so many photo uploading websites freely available, I don't see being able to upload pics onto here as a big deal.
The site looks fine to me graphically, but I guess a change is as good as a holiday supposedly... (I don't think so, nothing beats a holiday!).
Everyone's welcome to post in the Art Studio section about themselves. With other's posting regularly in there own threads about what there up to. Although, If people had there own profiles, they could update what they were doing there.
But, would that be harder to see, since new posts/threads come up when you open the site, new posts on profiles probably wouldn't.
I have no idea what way is better...
Just like posting random stuff...

There is a major spam issue with profiles - for every legit user on this forum, there would be about 60 who register, but make no posts. The idea is to improve their Google ranking by putting as many links to their website as possible in their profile.
FYI - it doesn't work: this site generates 'nofollow' tags so Google ignores them anyway.
Moderators have some chance of seeing new postings, but are unlikely to 'patrol' profiles.
Cheers

I personally like the layout and how easy user friendly this forum is. I would prefer being able to upload images straight from my computer and not to have to use a host (I use ImageShack). However small inconvenience which is not too much of a drama.
I like how this community art forum is more about the verbal (well...textual ) interaction between artists and the like, and not all about 'just showing' pictures of your art in a gallery. As Greenfrog said, there are many of those out there.
Yeah Georgiana, adding a bit more to our profile would be good | Quote: | | like being able to upload a profile photo and putting up a gallery of our work and to add some details about ourselves? | But it is also good that there is not much stuff about us, so we direct people to visiting our websites. So for people who dont have a website, having the option to put a bit about them and maybe 5 images is a good idea.
Just my 2cents
