Six and a half months around the world. Fabulous. Am now immersed in unpacking house, paperwork and mess and feel like it never happened.
Said I'd go in an exhibition in 2 weeks and haven't done anything yet.
Favourites: Peru, Spain, Turkey
Need to go back to see more: Central America (Mexico, Guatamala etc) and Eastern Europe (Croatia, Hungary, Czechoslovakia etc)
Least liked: Cuba
Best Fun: Meeting friends in Brussels, Berlin and Hanoi
Best Gallery: Buenos Aires |

Welcome back, belle.
So tell us about the gallery in Buenos Aires. Why and how was it the best? |

Thanks everyone. I'm fine now. I had two sprained ankles (one in a cast) and a torn medial meniscus in one knee. I strapped myself into a knee support with hinges at side and bought strong hiking boots. Felt like Frankenstein's bride clomping around. Took 3 months for knee to come good (and the other really objected to doing the most work.) Wrenched the bad ankle a couple of times since and will have to "get it seen to".
A bit sad as we are keen salsa learners and I may just have to be a groupie.
Loved the gallery in Buenos Aires because it was well set out with really excellent examples of each era rather than overwhelming us with everything they own. Came away trembling with excitement.
I'm totally off contemporary galleries. They are often more about the building than the art which is usually conceptual, installations , videos and NO painting or drawing. Saw very little that wasn't just a one joke play.
Am desperately trying to put some drawings together for an exhibition in two weeks and finding it hard to settle. My studio is still full of junk and the house is a mess. |
