I am new to sculpting and putting a sculpture in my first exhibition soon.
I have a polyurethane sculpture with a flat, but not very deep, base (less than a centimetre) and wish to fix the sculpture it to a timber plinth for the duration of the exhibition, but be able to remove it later without damaging the sculpture.
The base is too thin to be able to drill into.
I have heard of some people using a temporary glue to mount their sculptures but cannot find any reference to it on the internet.
Has anyone heard of such a glue or used it? |

Spatch, haven't heard of the glue but have you thought about using Blutac.
Put in on the base of your work, press down hard and it normally holds on pretty securely.
Easey to ease the work off the plinth at the end and it doesn't damage your work or the plinth.
Give it a try and see. |

What about Velcro? You could put Expo Dots on both faces and stick it on. You may have to remove the dots off the base of the sculpture at a later date.
Alternatively, if you want to stick it down hard.... get a thickish piece of cardboard, cut it slightly smaller than th sculpture base and glue it to both the scuplture and plinth with Aquadhere, When you're done, carefuly push a chisel into the cardboard and split it. This will leave a thin bit of cardboard glued to both surfaces. (It's a wood-turner's trick)
Cheers

| How about drilling a hole in your plinth? |

Galleries are usually very protective of their plinths, hence the use of white Blutac to secure things. This comes off easily with out leaving marks on the plinth.
But if it's your plinth, go for it. |
