How inspiring. This series is already great. Very different for you Tobias, although I can see your style.

Are you just playing/experimenting to see where it goes? Or are you doing it for a reason e.g. competition

Hey KimO

I think so far the Mummy shrine is the most popular so far. I guess because Assemblage is a new direction for me it is like feeling your way through a dark room then after stubbling and feeling around you find a small lamp and slowly slowly the room begins to lighten. So when i began the mummy it wasn't so dark and i get an instant feel for the work..where as with the 'Goddess shrine'...it started from absolutely nothing, like learing to ride a bike.

Thanks Jo appreciate your comments!

This series is very different for me and it has always been something i have wanted to do and one day i woke up and said 'lets make it a reality'.

The reason for this series, well i wanted to do something different from painting and i had worked in clay and printmaking, so this was the next step really. I wanted to see if i could take my style and apply it to assemblage art. I think as i get comfortable with this medium the works will only get better, more complex and elaborate as they progress. I am writing a book along the way about assemblage art and this particular sardine can series. Photographing the work as i make it, writing down thoughts as well as making a DVD series too. I am looking at producing around 30 works for a show in NY in 2010.
