So Steve, I'm not an artist, merely a skilled operator. Correction: a "skilled" operator.

And I whipped up the images for my exhibition in a couple of weeks and conned people into believing they were the result of two years' sustained work.

But you mean no disrespect.

Steve, I've been "playing" with this program for hours now and no way can the images I produced be called "art". Most of them are randomly created. Velvet, on the other hand seems to use the program as a tool to create the effects she wants. She said in another post somewhere that she effectively starts with a "blank" page, and creates an image from there. She then obviously uses a whole lot of other techniques to end up with images like "space junk". It would take me forever to learn how to do that, just as it took me forever to learn my drawing skills.

I agree that it seems easy to produce an interesting image, but that is not the end of the story.

I agree, I consider I'm only playing with them also, I don't have the time to learn how to use it properly, & I admire anyone who takes it on & create's unique art with it, as Velvet has done.
I reconized from the start that to create unique & planned pictures, you would have to put in a lot of time, & study & hard work, especially of the old grey matter Confused

Velvet, clearly I've upset you... I'm deeply sorry for that.

In the interest of the development of art I think we need to pursue discussions of this type. Are not all artists willing to show our work considered, "Skilled" Operators, um yes. my view...

So it becomes a point of how the "skill" shows through, how the skills are presented or represented perhaps.

Oh and you did not (probably) need to con people as the work presents beautifully they would have been all gob smacked and in awe the same way I am when I see this sort of work framed etc.

Therefore this discussion becomes one about the essence, notion, or concept of art rather than hey look here is an easy way out type of technique. far from it...
