Or you could catch the harbour cat from DH over to the quay - it stops outside the museum of contermporary art & then jump a ferry over to Watsons Bay, which is the nicest harbour cruise, & go have lunch at Watsons Bay pub, next to Doyles. Doyles own it, so same view & great food at quarter the price. Nothing nicer than a day out on the harbour on a beautiful day. Have fun Smile

I'd also suggest visiting the Rocks, including Parkers Art Supplies and the many small and expensive galleries there.

Oh it was fabulous!! Designex was a bit lame this year, but I wandered over to Adyar's Book Shop ( i think that was the name) (i'm into a bit of that kind of stuff:), then lunch with my sister-in-law and her friend and gorgeous twin boys, then walked to the rocks and checked out Julian Ashtons...I'd died and gone to heaven! It was like I'd gone back 50 years...it's a real art school!! then took the Pooks recommendation to go to Parkers...died and gone to heaven twice in one day...took heaps of photos..Sunday went to the gallery and looked at the Archibalds...all awesome but I wasn't fussed on Sam Leach suggesting that dressing in a Nazi Uniform was a comment on the current social situation in Australia. Question Embarassed Rolling Eyes Question Question Question didn't really get it..but it's a nice portrait, beautifully done. maybe i'm niave, but the suggestion that wearing the nazi uniform was a comment on all the negative that white's have brought to Australia flies in the face of fact. The nazis were white and european, yes, but they inflicted their insanity on anyone who didn't fit their ideal - not just indigenous people. the comment fell a bit flat for me Crying or Very sad
but then off to the MCA at circular Quay and had lunch (yum) and then looked at the art (yuck). the fiona hall stuff is awesome, but the rest of it either lacked skill or class or both. (just my opinion) and frankly it was pretty boring.
then off to the airport - krispy kremes for my son and wait a few hours for the airport to open after the huge storm (which was amazing to watch from the plate glass window in the art gallery)
all in all a fun, arty weekend - came home exhausted and looking forward to lots of painting - then had the mother or all crappy weeks at work!!! you get that! Rolling Eyes
