I will have about 2.5 weeks in Jogjakarta next April. My husband will be doing a refresher Indonesian course but I would like to do something more arty. Any suggestions?

No takers, perhaps I should have spelt it as Yogyakarta?

Yes, I'm sure I could get into tourist batik but am not over keen. I was hoping to see some of the more cutting edge stuff. I know a lot of the artists ended up homeless after earthquake and have formed collectives in squats. i would love to see what they are doing. My husband is looking at us doing a homestay and the college he will be going to says they can probably find something. I'd love to be able to spend some time in a group studio. Language is always a problem though. I definitely need a buddy to play with!!
