This is a view to the west of the Stirling Range National Park in the south west of Western Australia. It's from a vantage point about two thirds of the way up the track to the summit of Bluff Knoll, the highest peak in the southern half of the state at 1094m. These mountains rise out of a plain which is about 250m, so although not that high in absolute altitude, they appear quite high from the surrounding plain. The track is tough, once leaving the car park it's uphill all the way, no flat spots at all. Great 360 degree view from the top.

On canvas, 80cm x 160cm or 32" x 64"

This is a hard effect to achieve Marty and you've done really well.
What an incredible sense of depth you've got in this painting!
Well done.

Yes. Nice one Marty. I love the effect of the cloud shadows on the landscape, many artists fail to take them into account.

I love the sense of distance in this painting, aswell as the cloud shadows. It is similar to the views we have around here, very well done, nice colours too!

Hi, Daniel, thanks. It was important to convey a sense of great distance for this to work.

Hi, Clive, thanks very much.

Hi, Wendy, thanks. You are spoiled in Gippsland, there is great scenery everywhere. We have to travel over three hours to see this!

I thought I commented on this one. Did you do a similar painting? Going crazy I am.
Anyhow, this is a beautiful painting, a challenge no doubt, which is good. Well done, love it.
